Type 8 Short Adjustable Single Disconnect Sway Bar Links

RedRunner Designs Type 8 Sway Bar Links are our short bushing to heim style sway bar link setup.

These links are built for tight fit applications that need a very short sway bar link with a mounting length of 3 to 3.25 inches center to center. They are basically a super short single disconnect version of our Type 1 design, using a bushing style upper mount and a heim joint lower mount.

Type 8 links were originally built around early Toyota Tacoma fitment and other compact custom applications where space is limited but strength, adjustability, and serviceability still matter.

Type 8 links are available with red or black upper bushings and your choice of lower bolt on hardware or lower quick disconnect hardware.

Bushing Color Options

Type 8 links are available with two upper bushing color options.

Red Upper Bushings

A classic RedRunner look with red upper bushings.

Black Upper Bushings

A cleaner, more subtle look with black upper bushings.

Lower Hardware Options

Type 8 links are available with two lower hardware styles.

Only the lower mount is available as a quick disconnect. The upper mount remains a bushing style mount.

Bolt On Lower Hardware

• Includes short 7/16 inch bolt on lower mounting hardware
• 24 mm usable mounting length
• Approximately 0.94 inch usable mounting length
• Non disconnect setup
• Best for street use, daily driving, or applications where quick disconnects are not needed

Quick Disconnect Lower Hardware

• Includes 7/16 inch lower quick disconnect pin
• 15.25 mm usable thread
• Approximately 0.60 inch usable thread
• Allows the lower mount to be disconnected when needed
• Best for applications where a compact single lower disconnect is desired

Usable mounting length is the remaining mounting space available after the included hardware and proper nyloc engagement are accounted for.

Fitment Note

Vehicle application alone does not guarantee fitment. The required link length, mounting point thickness, mounting angle, and available clearance all matter.

On very short setups, disconnecting the lower mount can be tighter than on longer sway bar link designs. The lower quick disconnect option is available, but you should confirm that there is enough room around the lower mount to access and remove the pin.

Important Safety Notice

For quick disconnect setups, you are responsible for securely supporting the sway bar when it is disconnected. Depending on the vehicle and suspension setup, an unsecured sway bar may contact surrounding suspension, steering, axle, brake, or CV components.

Always secure the sway bar before driving.

You may also disconnect only one side, leaving the opposite link connected to help support the sway bar while providing the same disconnect effect.
